Road closures in Leeds city centre all weekend as giant 121ft crane being pulled down

Road closures are being put in place in Leeds city centre this weekend as a giant 121ft crane is being pulled down outside The Majestic.

The 121ft (37m) green crane that currently stands within the shell of the Majestic building on City Square will be removed from the site early on Saturday morning.

It's been there since April 2018, and will take two days to fully dismantle.

Wellington Street will be closed at the junction of Aire Street and King Street from midnight on Friday

The road is due to reopened in the early hours of Monday morning at the latest.

Diversions will be put in place along Aire Street and Thirsk Street.

The crane arrived to assist contractors McAlpine, who are working on the former nightclub and cinema's restoration.
