Holding midfielder Phillips was thought to be facing around six weeks out after tearing ligaments in his shoulder in the 1-0 loss at home to Wolves on October 16.
But Whites head coach Marcelo Bielsa said on Friday that Phillips was back available to feature and the 24-year-old comes straight back into the side to take the place of Pascal Struijk who drops to the bench.

Hide AdRecord signing Rodrigo is also back following his isolation after testing positive for coronavirus but only on the bench as fellow summer recruit Raphinha makes his first Whites start and full home debut in replacing Helder Costa who drops to the bench.
Northern Ireland international Stuart Dallas also makes his 200th appearance for the Whites.
Pablo Hernandez (muscle), Diego Llorente (groin), Jamie Shackleton (quad) and long term absentee Adam Forshaw (hip) are all out.
Gunners boss Mikel Arteta has made four changes to his side with striker Alexandre Lacazette dropping to the bench.

Hide AdThomas Partey also misses the game through a thigh injury while Mohamed Elneny has tested positive for coronavirus and England international Bukayo Saka also comes out of the XI.
Dani Ceballos, Nicolas Pepe, Joe Willock and Granit Xhaka all come into the side while former Whites loanee striker Eddie Nketiah is on the bench.
